SERVICES FOR TENANTS

Free-of-charge, competent counselling

Extensive tenant protection and supporting regulations contribute significantly to preserving Vienna’s high quality of life. In times of population growth, pressures on the urban housing market, too, tend to increase.

The City of Vienna responds to this trend with a wide range of free-of-charge services of client counselling and advice.

MieterHilfe Wien

The team of the tenancy helpdesk MieterHilfe Wien offers free-of-charge counselling on all housing-related issues. No matter whether clients have questions relating to tenancy contracts, maintenance expense calculation or ownership rights – this service is always competent and free of charge.

The helpdesk also provides quick and unbureaucratic legal counselling to combat housing speculation. A central goal lies in offering information and advice to address potential problems before they arise.

Online support via various online platforms

In addition to in-person advice, MieterHilfe also offers around-the-clock online support. The agency’s website enables tenants to review rent levels, maintenance expenses or transferral fees for fixtures and fittings. Moreover, MieterHilfe has developed apps for these services to support the growing number of requests via mobile devices. The following services are available:

  • Rent calculator: The online rent calculator makes it easy to check whether a rent is reasonable.
  • Building maintenance expense calculator: With the building maintenance expense calculator, tenants can easily check the correctness of their annual invoice.
  • One-off payment calculator: This tool provides clearcut information about the fixtures and fittings for which a one-off payment may be demanded in case of flat transferral, and how high this amount may be.
  • Broker's commission calculator: By just entering a few relevant data, users can easily and simply calculate the real-estate broker’s commission even before signing the tenancy contract.

These services are available online or via special apps that can be downloaded for IOS and Android. For more information, visit www.mieterhilfe.at (in German).
