LIVING TOGETHER – NEIGHBOURHOOD INITIATIVES

Respectful interactions all around

Close-knit local communities are treasured in Vienna. Ethnic, social, religious or generational differences fade into the background. Rather, the goal lies in a good cultural mix that enables people to learn from each other and to develop a sense of understanding for their fellow citizens.

Joint activities, such as neighbourhood block parties, sports events for parents and children as well as art exhibitions or local newspapers, not only bring people together but also strengthen the communicative structure within a housing estate or urban quarter. Moreover, such activities often engender self-organised, mutually supportive neighbourhood structures that fundamentally improve communication and the exchange of knowledge, leading to more harmonious interpersonal interactions in everyday life.
